KILBIRNIE Community Football Club (KCFC) received a £500 donation from the local Tesco store to help with the costs of new tracksuits.

Representatives from KCFC went along to the store on Bridgend where they were presented with the cheque.

The club is now in its 10th year and is currently in the process of purchasing new team branded tracksuits for all players.

Tesco’s donation will ensure that players can travel to and from matches wearing identical kit to help further improve KCFC’s identity in the local community.

John McMillan from KCFC’s Committee said: “We would like to thank Tesco for supporting the club with this donation, it is a big help towards the cost of purchasing new tracksuits.

“The club is well supported by the local community and benefits so many people in the area. It is therefore greatly appreciated when this is acknowledged by local businesses and groups who show support where they can.”

Manager of Tesco Kilbirnie, Andrew Mexson, said: “Kilbirnie Community Football Club do fantastic work to develop football in the local area, encouraging people of all ages to get involved. We are really pleased that we have been able to support them in some way to help them purchase new tracksuits.”

KCFC was formed in 2006 to offer football to the local community for ages. They cater to ages as young as three and their oldest player is almost 80.
