THE new £40million Garnock Community Campus – Glengarnock’s state-of-the-art school and leisure complex – is now fully operational.

The stunning new campus opened its educational facilities to pupils on January 10 and now the impressive array of sports and leisure facilities have also been officially opened for community use.

Serving the Garnock Valley’s three main towns, Kilbirnie, Beith and Dalry, the Campus is home to some of the most modern leisure and sports facilities and equipment in Scotland, including a 25 metre, six-lane swimming pool with warm-up pool, changing facilities and spectator seating.

The five multi-use sports halls range from single, double to four courts, providing a choice of spaces for all indoor sports activities.

The campus also boasts an ultra-modern fitness suite, theatre, community rooms, cafe and an 11-a-side astroturf pitch.

Operated by KA Leisure, all of the facilities are available for use by individuals, clubs and groups and a wide range of memberships are available. These include access to the gym, swimming and a variety of classes. Information on the new facilities and details of membership is available at www.kaleisure.com.

Colin Glencorse, KA Leisure’s Business Manager (Leisure) said: “It’s an exciting time for North Ayrshire with the opening of Garnock Community Campus. We’re delighted to share this fantastic facility with the local community and I’m sure this will provide a variety of opportunities for everyone to get active.”

North Ayrshire Councillor Louise McPhater, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “The opening of the new swimming pool at Garnock Community Campus is a landmark day for us.

“It will put Garnock firmly on the map with one of the most modern pools in Scotland, complemented by fantastic facilities like the indoor sports halls and fitness suite.

“Within the space of a few weeks, we are seeing the opening of the pool at Garnock Community Campus followed by the launch of the fantastic Portal in Irvine – two major leisure complexes which show our commitment to providing top-quality facilities.
