DRUGS with an estimated street value of over £900 have been seized by Locality Policing Officers in the Garnock Valley area of North Ayrshire.

As officers continue their work in response to concerns raised by the local community, regarding drug dealing and drug misuse, they were recently granted a search warrant by a Sheriff.

On the morning of Friday,March 24 officers forced entry to a property in Knoxsville Road, Kilbirnie where they seized a quantity of alleged class A and B drugs, a quantity of alleged new psychoactive substances and a three figure sum of money.

A 33-year-old man, who was woken from his sleep when officers from the Garnock Valley Locality Policing Team forced entry to the property, was subsequently arrested for alleged offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016. A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Murdoch, of the Garnock Valley Locality Policing Team, said: “The results of recent searches at properties in the Garnock Valley are as a direct result of information provided by the local community who have highlighted drug dealing and drug misuse as a top priority for local policing.
