SLAM dunk was the order of the day when a Garnock Valley school hosted a special event for primary school children last week.
Dalry-based Ayrshire Tornadoes, the county's top basketball club are running the Club Champion programme, which is aimed at developing the sport across North Ayrshire.
The programme is in its second year and over the course of the past 12 months, coach Jordan Thomson delivered basketball sessions to primary and secondary pupils across North Ayrshire.
The culmination of the coach's efforts came with a successful tournament, held in the new Garnock Community Campus on Friday, with six of the primary schools in the Garnock Valley represented.
This tournament was aimed at P5 children to get them involved in basketball.
Each school had two teams split into two leagues. Competitive games were followed by a school shoot-out.
Results:
Group A, winners - Dalry Primary; runners-up: St Palladius Primary.
Group B, winners - St Palladius Primary; runners-up - St Bridget's Primary.
Thomson said: "Days like this are why I coach. It's great giving kids in Ayrshire the chance to play basketball - also giving them a pathway to join the club. It was great to see so many kids and teachers enjoying the tournament, hopefully we will see a few of these kids becoming Tornadoes stars in the future.
"A big thanks to everyone on the day who made it a success. Thanks to North Ayrshire Council, KA Leisure and Active Schools for their support."
