AN event providing a one-stop-shop for employment is coming to the Garnock Valley later this month.

The Employability Partnership Jobs Fair will be taking place in the sports hall within Beith Community Centre on Wednesday, June 21 between 9am-1pm. On the day, local residents can go along and meet with a range of partners all ready and willing to support the unemployed into work. The Council is joining forces with the Ayrshire College, The Ayrshire Community Trust, Ayrshire Chamber, Skills Development Scotland and the Department for Work and Pensions to host the special employability fair. A number of local businesses will also be there on the day – with some looking to fill vacancies.

So if you know anyone that could do with some help securing employment, make sure they head along to the event next month.

This will be the second fair to be held within North Ayrshire. The first one, in Irvine, saw over 800 people attend and receive expert advice. Peri Owens, 28, was one of the 837 people to attend the event.

She had been undertaking a work placement with the Job Centre Plus where one of her main duties was to help organise the fair itself.

Speaking about her experience she said: “I initially went along to the employability fair to help out on the day. However, while I was there I got chatting to a representative from the Council who told me all about their Skills for Life programme.
