A FUN day for a little boy fighting an immunodeficiency disorder was a huge success and raised £1,727.
As the Herald reported previously, the Marc Smith Fun Fund event at Kilbirnie Place Golf Club was in support of eight-year-old Marc Smith.
The brave Dalry Primary pupil has spent much of his life in hospital and has undergone a bone marrow transplant and chemotherapy.
Derek Apperley, who organised the event along with his friend Ged Clarke, said: “I was blown away at the amount of support. There were so many people we were struggling with the capacity.
“Marc had a brilliant time. He really loved it.”
The money raised will go towards helping Marc create happy memories and experience the things he has missed out on.
Derek said: “He wants to become a chef just like his dad so we used some of the money to send him to the Kilmarnock Food School. That’s just some of the things that we’ve got lined up for him. He’s got a wee list that he’s made.”
