MORE than 20 drivers were stopped for speeding in the Garnock Valley recently as police increased patrols in the area following local concerns.

Additional officers were on duty over the weekend of July 29/30 in response to community concerns regarding speeding motorists.

Officers based at Kilbirnie Police Office, along with their colleagues from Ayrshire’s Road Policing Department, carried out high-visibility patrols and static speed checks in Kilbirnie, Beith, and Dalry.

Sergeant Joe Murdoch, of the Garnock Valley Locality Policing Team, said: “Through consultation with local residents, community groups, and partners, we have identified a number of areas where local people are concerned regarding road safety.

“This weekend, officers have been deployed at key locations including: Milton Road, Eglinton Street, and Blair Road, to engage with motorists and raise awareness of local concerns.

“Over 20 drivers were stopped and warned by officers for travelling at speed just over the speed limit.

“In the coming weeks, we will continue to work with the community and conduct enforcement were necessary.”
