THE new state-of-the-art Clyde Coast and Garnock Valley Crematorium is aiming to open in March.

The multi-million-pound facility, which will be one of the most modern and environmentally advanced in the country, will provide a much-needed, essential service for local people across North Ayrshire.

It will provide seating for 160 to 180 people within the main ceremony hall with additional space for a further 70 to 80 people within the reception area where the service will be relayed onto flat screen monitors.

The crematorium will significantly help families when they need help and support most, by providing a local and easily accessible facility, offering panoramic views towards Arran.

Philip Ewing, has been appointed as Crematorium Manager, and has over 30-years of experience within funeral care and bereavement services, and previously managed Greenock Crematorium and Masonhill Crematorium in Ayr.

While at Masonhill Crematorium, Philip and his team were awarded Best Crematorium in the UK Award, recognising the highest standards of customer care.

Philip has previously served as President of the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management - the UK’s foremost professional bereavement services organisation.

He said: “I am delighted to be leading what will be one of the most modern, inspiring and environmentally advanced crematorium facilities anywhere in the country. The architect and contractors have built a truly exceptional building.

“We have been busy finalising the building and putting in place a first-class team of support staff and technicians, and we are all working with the single aim of ensuring that we provide new and higher levels of care.

“This will be a very special building, offering an extremely important service to local people and families.”

Jim Hamilton, Chairman of the Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium added: “We are deeply thankful for all of the encouragement and backing we have received.

“We are absolutely delighted to have Philip on-board leading the facility.

“Philip brings exceptional experience and knowledge, and we will ensure that we deliver the highest levels of care and service for local people and local families when they need help and support most.”
