THE new Dalry Bypass is starting to take shape - despite the cold and wet winter.

In the latest progress report from Transport Scotland, they explain what is happening with the new road and other events that have been ongoing.

They have recently taken delivery of five beams which will help push the construction phase on further.

The report says: “The beams were recently installed, representing a key milestone in the project and enabling us to forge ahead with the aim of opening Blair Road in spring.

“We have also constructed piling platforms and progressed with the installation of test piles for the structure over the River Garnock.

Testing of these piles is now complete and the permanent piling has now commenced.

Once the piles are in place a pile cap will be constructed followed by the installation of the columns and abutment walls to support the bridge deck.”

More than half of the works to fill in empty voids left by mines has been completed and this will be completed within the next fe months. A

s well as the works, the contractors have welcomed elected members to the site, they have spoke to local children and donated food to the North Ayrshire Foodbank.
