Dalry and West Kilbride Councillor Joy Brahim has kicked off this year’s fundraising efforts by completing the City Pier City half marathon in aid of West FM Cash for Kids.

The SNP Councillor completed the 21.1 kilometre run in her home town of The Hague, The Netherlands.

She did so despite suffering from an injury known as ‘runner’s knee’.

Cllr Brahim said after the run: “I have had my eye on the City Pier City half marathon since I was a child and am delighted that I’ve finally managed to make it happen, along with my good friend David.

“After raising funds for Alzheimer Scotland and Strathcarron Hospice last year, I really wanted to do something for children - especially as it is the Year of Young People.

“West FM Cash for Kids do amazing work with local disadvantaged children and helped 11,758 kids across North Ayrshire alone in 2017.

“I hope to raise as much money as possible for them and encourage everyone who hasn’t donated yet to do so.

“100% of your donation goes directly to the charity!”
