LOCAL community groups were the big winners as the latest Participatory Budgeting event was declared an overwhelming success.

‘Decision Day’– held in Dalry Primary – was the final stage for local groups and individuals from the Garnock Valley looking to secure funding from the PB process.

And after tallying up all the votes, it can be revealed a total of 19 groups shared the £25,382 available from the pot.

Four projects shared almost £4000 available from the North Ayrshire Green Health Partnership.

Around 350 people attended Saturday’s event as groups showcased their projects and guests asked questions and gathered information.

At the end of the event, people voted for those they felt were most deserving and would improve at least one of the following in Garnock Valley life: promoting health and activity, bringing people together and promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.

The Three Towns event is next up takes place on Saturday 24 March from 10.30am-1pm at the Ardrossan Civic Centre..

Ayrshire Cancer Support, Garnock Valley Disability Forum, Dalry Community Sports Club, Dalry Old Folks Welfare Committee, Playtime Early Years, Project Kilbirnie, Dalry Out of School Care, St Margaret’s Youth Group, Kilbirnie and Glengarnock Community Association, 63rd Ayrshire Scout Group, Garnock Valley Transition Group, Garnock Valley Pipes and Drums, Radio City Association

Dalry Community Development Hub, The Breastfeeding Network, The Moorpark Crafties Parent and Carer Group, St Bridget’s Parent Group, Glengarnock Ironworks Bowling Club and The Garnock Valley Community Concert Band

Also Successful in their bid for Green Health Partnership funding were: Project Kilbirnie, Garnock Valley Allotment Association, Radio City Association Limited and The Breastfeeding Network.
