Dalry was sprinkled with magic as members of the community dressed up for a colourful fairy parade.

The enchanting event was to celebrate the opening of the town’s new Fairy Trail at Lynn Glen. For five months, members of Dalry Community Development Hub have worked tirelessly to create a magical fairy kingdom of toadstools and miniature treehouses.

The parade was organised by the Fairy Trail Group, a sub-group of the community hub, and included events such as wand making and bird nest making.

Ruth Crystal-Waters, member of the Fairy Trail Group, said of the parade: “It met and beat all our expectations and it was something different for the community.

“A lot of work was done on the Lynn Glen footpath and the community hub came up with the idea of maybe turning it into a fairy trail for children and adults to experience nature and being out in the countryside.

“I want to thank the whole community, local businesses and families for turning up, the Fairy Trail Group because without these ladies it would have been impossible. Also, the Men’s Shed who donated a little sum of money which enabled us to buy the burgers.

“The fairy trail will be having events throughout the year, so we’re looking for ‘fairy guardians’, as we call ourselves, to help out.”
