Town mourns death of young Mark who battled cancer.

THE town of Kilbirnie - and its footballing community - were mourning this week following the death of a local youngster.

Mark Hughes (11) passed away on Wednesday after battling cancer.

The son of former Kilbirnie Ladeside manager, coach and captain Jim Hughes and his wife Pauline, Mark was also a stalwart player at Kilbirnie Community Football Club (KCFC) from his under seven days until the present.
