A BEITH youngster has made it through to the finals of a talent event to be held in Blackpool later this year.

Rachel Montgomery, who is 10 and attends Beith Primary School, took part in auditions for Talent Fest UK at the Hilton Grosvenor Hotel in Glasgow where she performed in the junior solo singing section.

The Primary 5 pupil performed Beyonce’s smash-hit ‘Listen’ in front of a panel of esteemed experts in the various industry fields.

The competition offers a unique concept where the experts can provide up-and-coming talent with an opportunity to improve and enhance their skills whilst gaining constructive feedback from experienced professionals about furthering their career.

Rachel will now travel to Blackpool’s Winter Gardens at the end of September with her family to perform at the Grand Talent Fest Party.

Rachel’s parents Angela McGlone and Andrew Montgomery are very proud of their daughter, as is her gran, Carol McGlone, who said: “We’re very proud as Rachel has only recently started to perform in front of audiences. We hope she can do it in September.” A spokesperson for Talent Fest UK said: “Rachel was successful in the toughest of all the UK competitions and will represent Scotland at the National Talent Fest UK Finals in The Fabulous Winter Gardens in Blackpool. She is a very talented young lady and we wish her all the best.” Pictured is Rachel, wearing green and white, with the other finalists who qualified from the Glasgow round of auditions. They will now face qualifiers from all over England, Wales and Northern Ireland in the Autumn.
