A woman had to be rescued from her car following a collision near to Kilbirnie this afternoon (Wednesday, June 25).
Firefighters had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to free the motorist from her vehicle after it left the A760 near Kilbirnie and came to rest at the bottom of an embankment.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call from Police Scotland shortly before 2.50pm reporting one car had been involved in a collision heading towards Lochwinnoch and two people were trapped.
“Operations Control immediately mobilised two appliances from Beith and Johnstone. Our crews arrived to find one woman was still trapped, while the second had been able to leave the vehicle.
“Firefighters assisted Scottish Ambulance Service colleagues, using hydraulic equipment to ensure she was safely released, and after being moved from the car she was passed to the care of paramedics.”
