On Wednesday, August 6, officers from Police Scotland’s North Ayrshire Problem Solving Team were in Kilbirnie to attend an event organised by the local authority.

North Ayrshire Council invited the team to St Bridget’s Primary School during their family fun day event, where officers met local families, discussed local policing and demonstrated their vehicle.

Before returning to Irvine, the team popped into the Anam Cara dementia respite facility to catch up with staff and guests.

Officers spoke about their work before demonstrating their vehicle and operational equipment. The officers had some interesting discussions with Mr James – a retired police superintendent from the days of Ayrshire Constabulary.

PC Kris Furey from the team commented: “Having previously worked in the Garnock Valley it was great to get back and meet local people. The weather didn’t put people off from visiting the fun day and it soon brightened up. It was great to meet Mr James and although quite a few things have changed from his time as a police officer he still felt at home behind the wheel of a police car!” Problem Solving Team officers work alongside partner agencies in North Ayrshire to support local officers targeting community concerns including antisocial behaviour and drug misuse.
