A DALRY student took a place at golf’s Ryder Cup last night – hosting guests and world-famous golfers attending the tournament launch dinner.

The Ryder Cup launch dinner at the SECC in Glasgow was attended by 1500 international guests, including some members of the Europe and America teams.

Events Management student Bekki Allan, 18, is part of a group of City of Glasgow College students set to play its part in the latest world-class sporting event to be hosted in Scotland.

Former Garnock Academy pupil Bekki said: “I am excited to be involved in the Ryder Cup Gala Dinner as it will be a great experience for the events industry.” Gordon McIntyre, Curriculum Head of Hospitality at City of Glasgow College, said: “Although the college has been represented at high-profile events previously, never have we had so many students working at a single event. It will take a lot of work to pull it all together.” Currently in her first year at City of Glasgow College, Bekki has ambitions of working at major events around the world.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in such a large event in Scotland.”
