A BEITH baker has been banned from driving after he was found to be more than twice the drink drive limit.
Colin Law, 40, of Hawthorn Crescent was driving on the B777 Longbar Road near to Beith at 7.50am on November 25. Police stopped him in his car and noted there to be a strong smell of alcohol coming from him.
Law failed a roadside breath test and was taken to Saltcoats Police Office where the reading 55 minutes later read 75mg per 100ml where the legal limit was 35mg per 100ml of breath.
The court heard that on the date in question, he had been asked by his partner to go for an errand after previously being out for drinks with work clients. He felt that he was fine to drive.
He was banned for one year and fined £600 at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.
