Garnock Academy senior pupils and staff members were elegantly gliding and sliding into their festive ‘Strictly Garnock’ competition, showing off their fantastic dancing skills to a packed and appreciative audience in the school’s theatre.

Among the judges were Roi Forbes, founder of Strictly Dancing classes who, together with his partner, tutored and encouraged the pupils who took part; Mr Allan Dick (a very proud head teacher); Mr Justin Auty (History Department); and Alison Gough (6th year pupil and last year’s Strictly Garnock winner).

The standard of each performance and the range and variety of dances made it a magical event and the audience were held spellbound by the talented dancers and teachers.

If you’ve ever watched Strictly on TV, then seeing the real thing at Garnock Academy was indeed an experience to be savoured and fondly remembered. What talent with the Jitterbug, Chicago Stepping, Samba, Swingout, not to mention the Balero and Rumba!

Everyone will join in congratulating the dancing Garnockians on another outstanding show.

One can only assume that with their wonderful pantomime, Cinderella, followed immediately by them waltzing successfully into Strictly GA, they will all be glad of the festive break from study to enjoy a night at the local disco!

The students are clearly an energetic, committed and totally game for a laugh lot, bringing great credit on themselves and the school.

Well done, GA dancers! You can all now boogie and Calypso straight to the top of the class!
