A KILBIRNIE man has admitted abusing police officers who tried to help him after he fell out of a taxi on New Year’s Day. David Anderson, 37, of Kirkland Road appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week where the court heard how he swore at the police whilst ambulance staff were attending to him. Procurator Fiscal Depute, Ms McColl, said that a witness was within his caravan at Sandylands Caravan Park, Saltcoats, when he heard a loud noise outside. Anderson was getting out of the taxi but he was drunk and couldn’t afford to pay it so the witness paid it for him. Anderson then fell to the ground and couldn’t get up regardless how hard the witness tried so he phoned the police and for an ambulance. Anderson was moved and placed into the back of the ambulance but when the police arrived he started to shout and swear saying: “You’re a f*****g p***k, get to f**k, I’m going nowhere with you.” The ambulance staff refused to take him to Accident and Emergency at Crosshouse Hospital so the police drove him there. Simon Brown, defending, said that his client was recently unemployed and had been out drinking and believed he had been assaulted. Sheriff Grant-Hutchison called for social work background reports and Anderson was released on bail until February 24.
