A DALRY woman who admitted drink driving has been fined and banned.
Elizabeth Kelly, of Reid Avenue, committed the offence on March 15 in Main Street.
Kilmarnock Sheriff Court heard last week how police on patrol in the area saw the 53-year-old driving in her car at around 1.15pm.
The officers had reason to follow her into a car park and decided to speak to her.
Kelly’s car had a flat tyre and told the officers she was “just going to the shops”.
However, the officers noticed she smelled of alcohol.
After failing the roadside breath test, Kelly was arrested and taken to Saltcoats Police Office and gave a reading of 75 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the limit of 22 microgrammes.
Kelly appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and pled guilty.
Defence solicitor Brian Holliman told the court how Kelly had been drinking at home the night before and into the early hours of the morning.
He added that Kelly believed she was fit to drive but now realises it was a mistake.
Presiding Sheriff Brian Murphy fined Kelly £260 and disqualified her from driving for 18 months.
