THE A737 was closed in both directions on Tuesday morning after an HGV struck a railway bridge at a notorious accident blackspot in Dalry.
The vehicle became wedged as it attempted to pass under the low bridge on the Beith Road – the scene of many similar incidents.
The collision occurred around 8am at the height of rush hour with traffic having to be diverted along narrow country lanes causing tailbacks and delayed journeys.
No-one was hurt in the incident however Police Scotland say the driver of the HGV has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for alleged dangerous driving.
