Homecoming Party for Ayrshire Hospice is a Galloping Success
THE Ayrshire Hospice will benefit from a bumper £1500 cheque thanks to the Ayr Advertiser Series Burns Homecoming Party night.
The "News" parent company, Ayrshire Weekly Press, ran a highly successful and historic event of Scottish themed dinner and entertainment on Sunday, May 24 at Cecchini"s Ardrossan.
Largs News editor Drew Cochrane welcomed the guests to the charity night which was the culmination of the Burns An A" That Festival celebrating Robert Burns" 250th anniversary "Homecoming" year.
He addressed the haggis in vigorous fashion to the piping of Gerry Hilferty.
The "sell out" audience generously contributed to the star raffle of a case of wine donated by Clydeport, 250th Burns anniversary whisky from Cecchini"s, a Land Rover Experience book with foreword by Randolph Fienes and Robert Burns cds by Ayrshire singer Willie Stewart.
There was also competitive bidding in a silent auction for a limited edition print, 'The Jazz Singer' by acclaimed National Gallery artist Alexandra Gardner, a WetWetWet platinum disc signed by all the band members including Graeme Duffin who played on the night, a signed Kilmarnock football top, a Land Rover Experience Day and an all day fairytale makeover from a renowned Glasgow hairdresser/beautician Taylor Ferguson.
