A MAN has been found guilty of historic child sex abuse in Kilwinning and Irvine.

Scott Povah, 32, used lewd and libidinous practices towards two underage girls on various occasions between March 2002 and June 2003 in the towns.

He firstly sexually assaulted a girl, then aged 15, on various occasions between March 1, 2002 and June 14, 2003.

Kilmarnock Sheriff Court heard that Povah repeatedly kissed her and handled her body, and also repeatedly induced her to touch him as well as touching the girl’s private parts.

These attacks occurred in addresses in Kilwinning as well Dreghorn, Irvine and the Magnum Leisure Centre.

Between June 1, 2002 and December 14 that year, Povah repeatedly entered the bedroom of a 12-year-old girl in Kilwinning.

The court heard that he repeatedly handled the girl’s legs as well as repeatedly placing his hands inside her underwear and groping her private parts.

Povah, of Carlin Terrace, Londonderry, was found guilty of committing the same offences against the same girl between December 15, 2002 and March 31, 2003.

After standing trial at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week, Povah was found guilty of the charges.

He will return to court in February for sentencing.
