A KILWINNING man caught with cocaine at Rugby Park football stadium must perform unpaid work.

Ryan Greig, of Sundrum Place, was found with the Class A drug in the stadium toilets during Kilmarnock’s home game with Rangers on February 16.

It was revealed at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court how police on duty at the stadium saw three males at the toilet area.

They could detect a smell of cannabis and approached the men.

On doing so, Greig, 24, immediately handed over a small bag of powder to officers.

It tested positive for cocaine, weighing 1g, and Greig was cautioned and charged.

At court last week, Greig pleaded guilty to the charge at the court.

Scott McLatchie, defending, told presiding Sheriff John Rafferty that the jobless dad-of-one fully accepted that he shouldn’t have drugs in his possession and “acted stupidly”.

But the solicitor revealed that Greig had cooperated fully with the police.

The court ordered Greig to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work when he appeared last week.
