STAFF and students at Ayrshire College’s Kilwinning Campus have been taking part in workshops on hate crime.

Constable Kimberley Bradford, the Campus Liaison Officer for Ayrshire College, provided four Hate Crime/Third Party Reporting workshops to staff last month.

There was one workshop for staff at each Ayrshire College campus and one to the Students Association.

The Hate Crime/Third Party reporting workshops outline what a hate crime is, and what groups are ‘protected’ under criminal and civil law.

Kimberley, pictured, also worked through some examples of hate crime.

She always aims to keep the workshops very informal and interactive, with participants able to ask any questions throughout, including having discussions on the topics or case studies around hate crime.

The second part of the session involves the ‘Third Party reporting’, it uses and how to fill in and submit a Third Party report on the Police Scotland website.

PC Bradford said: “It is so important to raise awareness of Hate Crime and show that Hate Crime will not be tolerated.

“No two individuals are the ever the same and individuality should be embraced.”
