ONE of the biggest rabbits in Scotland entertained guests in Kilwinning and helped raise money for the SSPCA on National Rabbit Day.

Atlas the rabbit hit national headlines last year when the SSPCA appealed to find someone to rehome the giant bunny.

Measuring in at just under four-feet long, Atlas is more than a handful for his owner Jenn Hyslop.

But she wanted to give something back to the charity after they chose her to take ownership in March of this year.

And with a weight of around 10kg, Atlas is more than double the weight of Jen’s other rescue rabbit, Coconut.

Despite Saturday’s weather, a bake sale was held.

And members of the local Kitcar Club came down to support with neighbours, family and friends all chipping in to raise a fantastic £200 for the SSPCA.

Jenn, from Kilwinning, said: “We had a bake sale and a BBQ and had aimed to raise between £100 and £150 but we got to £200, which was amazing.

“Everyone had carrots and treats for Atlas and Coconut. It was good fun but hectic but everyone seemed to have a good laugh.”

Atlas has been living in Kilwinning for around six months and Jenn said he has settled in well.

Requests came in from around the world to rehome Atlas. But a delighted Jenn was chosen from the many applicants and hasn’t looked back since.
