POLICE in North Ayrshire are investigating a report that a woman was the victim of an attempted mugging at a bus stop in Kilwinning.
The incident, which occurred on Kilwinning's Irvine Road, took place around 6.10am on Friday when the would-be attacker attempted to steal the bag of the woman.
A source told the Herald that the bus stop, near to Eglinton Park, was sealed off and that buses were not able to stop there as police investigated.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police are investigating a report of an attempted theft at a bus stop in Irvine Road, Kilwinning at 6.10am on Friday, October 7.
"The female victim was not injured during the incident and enquiries are continuing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Irvine Police Office on 101."
