A WOMAN and a boy suffered smoke inhalation following a fire at a property in Kilwinning.
Fire crews from Kilwinning attended a report of a living room on fire in Cambusdoon Place in the early hours of Thursday, October 6.
The cause of the fire was a lamp in the room which had burned itself out before the arrival of the fire service.
Station Manager Derek Davidson said: “Despite the fact that the fire had burned itself out, an adult female and a male child within the house were still subjected to slight smoke inhalation at the scene and if the fire had spread we could have been looking at a very different and more serious outcome.”
He added: “I would urge householders to ensure they have working smoke detection. To arrange a visit, text FIRE to 80800, visit www.firescotland.gov.uk or by Freephone, call 0800 0731 999.”
