AN Irvine man has been charged after allegedly crashing into an electricity distribution box in Kilwinning.
Police received reports of an apparent explosion and ascertained that a vehicle had struck the distribution box in the town.
The incident, which allegedly took place on February 28 at 1am, had a knock-on effect with power being lost to properties at the bottom ends of the Blacklands.
A loud bang and flames were seen at the locus and both police and fire service attended but there was no sign of a vehicle there when they arrived.
Local enquiries lead to a 36-year-old male from Irvine being reported to the Procurator Fiscal over four alleged charges and he will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court at a later date.
