I am delighted at long last we have had the news that we had been hoping for from The Scottish Cabinet Secretary for economy, jobs and fair work Keith Brown that the Arran Ferry is to remain with Ardrossan.

This decision is a massive boost for the town of Ardrossan and as I mentioned in my letter to the Herald in December 2016, if Ardrossan were to lose the ferry our next public meeting could be “to save Ardrossan”.

Now lets see some positive action on the promises and commitments assured by Peel Ports and North Ayrshire Council for a massive investment and regeneration of the harbour area and the town centre of Ardrossan.

Hopefully one day we can be proud to see Ardrossan as a popular tourist town attracting some of the 750,000 visitors that use the Ardrossan to Arran Ferry each year.
