A MAN has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after admitting to being in possession of a knife in a public place in Kilwinning.

Jack Carey, 20, pled guilty to one charge at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.

On March 15 at Ayrshire College, Kilwinning Main Street, Kilwinning Railway Station, and elsewhere, Carey had without reasonable excuse or lawful authority an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed, namely a knife.

Carey, of Merksworth Avenue, Dalry, was given a Community Payback Order of 200 hours of unpaid work with 18 months supervision.
