Ayrshire students visit Booth Welsh

The Kilwinning-based Ayrshire College students were given an insight into how their skills could be put to use within the company, as the visit was tailored to showcase how Booth Welsh utilises graduates from a wide range of technical courses in its workforce.

The students learned how Booth Welsh provides innovative solutions to clients by ensuring its different teams and specialists collaborate on projects.

Two of the three Booth Welsh employees who presented to the college students were Ayrshire College graduates. They were able to tell the group how the skills they picked up at college have helped them in the workplace.

The group was also shown one of the current projects Booth Welsh is working on, a scanning system to allow companies to keep track of their assets more efficiently.

Ged Freel, Head of Business and Computing at Ayrshire College, said: “I would like to thank the team at Booth Welsh for giving up their time to speak to our students. They have all gained a greater insight into how their coding skills in particular can play a crucial role in a major organisation like this.”

Bethany Ross, Booth Welsh Graduate Process Engineer, added “We tried to ensure computer science was at the heart of the visit, whilst still showcasing the important multi-disciplinary aspect of Booth Welsh and how all the engineering departments are interlinked. I think everyone took something away from it, including me.”
