A 57-year-old man has dodged a jail term after being in possession of a knife in a public place.
Hugh Walker, of Kilwinning’s Montgomerie Terrace, pleaded guilty to one charge at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.
Walker was found without reasonable excuse or lawful authority to be in possession of an article with a blade or was sharply pointed, namely a knife, on August 23 in Stevenston’s Caledonian Road.
The 57-year-old was given a Community Payback Order as a direct alternative to custody. He was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work within three months.
