FAMILIES left a ‘snail trail’ in Kilwinning recently as part of a national event to ‘spread the love’.

The event was organised by Ayrshire Rocks, part of the wider Love on the Rocks Scotland movement.

Participants were asked to paint a rock, write a message on the back, and bring it along to Whitehirst Primary School on Saturday, March 24 for a special ‘Rock Drop’.

The idea is to share a piece of art with a stranger who will hopefully find the rock and be cheered up by its message.

Last weekend’s Rock Drop at Whitehirst Primary School saw local children and adults leave rocks decorated as snails for others to find.

Dana Milligan, organiser of the local Rock Drop, said: “All in, about 20 people turned up with loads of different snails. It was amazing. “We had 174 snails in total which we thought was really good.”
