VANDALS repeatedly targeted a new children's all-ability play area at Eglinton Country Park resulting in damage totalling more than £10,000.

North Ayrshire Council said the park was targeted more than a dozen times in three months, which has prevented kids making the most of their play spot and produced a possible danger with the resulting debris.

The play area, which was opened in April, was designed to be fully accessible to both disabled and able bodied children.
