The Kilwinning Safe Positive Communities initiative got off to an intense start after four houses in Kilwinning were raided by police.

Police have thanked members of the public whose information helped them search the houses in Kilwinning during the first week of the multi-agency Safe Positive Communities initiative in the area.

Drugs with a street value of over £7000 were seized by police during the operation on April 3 and three people have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for offences under the misuse of drugs act.

Chief Inspector Tim Ross, Director of Community Safety at North Ayrshire Council, said: “Hopefully this demonstrates that we will take action on the information provided to us by local communities.

“It should give people the confidence to tell us what they know about people who are selling drugs.” Anyone with information on crime is asked to contact Police Scotland by calling 101 (always dial 999 in an emergency) or to call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity is guaranteed.
