BLUE lights, fun for all the family, giveaways, police dogs and loads more – that’s what is promised at this weekend’s multi agency open day at Kilwinning Community Fire Station.

Held as part of the Safe Positive Communities initiative in the town the event will take place from 12-4pm on Sunday, April 27.

With vehicles on display from all the emergency services and officers on hand to answer any questions organisers hope the event will provide a further insight of the work taking place locally to keep people safe.

Scenes of crime and home fire safety exhibits will be set up encouraging visitors to look for evidence and spot hazards.

Fire Officers will also be re-enacting a rescue scenario on the day enabling visitors to see a live ‘rescue’ take place.

A number of information stalls will be set up by organisations working together for a safe and secure North Ayrshire including the Community Wardens Service, the Domestic Abuse Response Team and Irvine Beat FM will be at the heart of the event with music to entertain visitors.

PC Jason Peter who is coordinating the event commented: “Last year’s open day at Saltcoats Police Office turned out to be a great day with fun for all the family – so much so we were asked to do it all over again!” All events are subject to operational availability and parking is limited in the area with organisers recommending the use of public transport.
