TRAVEL and tourism students from a sixth form college have been bringing a smile to the faces of seriously-ill children by sending them cards and gifts through a charity.

The teenagers from Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College have been allocated a 'pal' through charity Post Pals, to whom they send a small gift each month.

Post Pals is run solely by volunteers and endorsed by Children in Need and invites members of the public to send cheerful post to children to provide a much-needed relief from their daily struggles.

And it is hoped that an initiative will be launched in the run-up to Christmas in which all students from the college will send a card to a new 'pal'.

Nancy Wall, course leader for Travel and Tourism, said: "Post Pals is a fantastic charity which the college is proud to support and we are hoping to increase the number of students who get involved and send a card or gift.

"Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for those with health conditions, therefore these small gestures will allow us to spread some joy as the festive season approaches."
