CONTINENTAL MOVE FOR ROSS
A RUGBY player is living his sporting dream after signing for a top Italian team.
Ross McCann signed with "Super 10" side GS Viadana 1970 after completing a Rugby Performance course at Edinburgh"s Telford College, and may soon have the opportunity to play in the Italian National League and the Heineken European Cup.
Nineteen-year-old Ross from Beith, developed his skills playing for Scottish teams including Garnock RFC and Glasgow Hawks, and decided to take the Telford course to allow him to train full-time. Ross was spotted by the Viadana coach during a game and signed a two-year contract to play for the under 20"s team at the club, which is in northern Italy, 30 kilometres from Parma.
Former Garnock Academy pupil Ross said: 'I wanted to get the most out of my rugby development and the Telford course provided me with the opportunity to train full-time, with great facilities and a fantastic team of staff to support me throughout the course. The coaches at Telford got to know each individual very well, so each student"s training needs were met."
