ARMED FORCES WEEK GETS UNDERWAY

Country shows support for servicemen and women

THE flag was raised hailing the impending arrival of the inaugural Armed Forces Day in North Ayrshire at Irvine War Memorial on Monday morning.

Groups and organisations from all over the district were on hand to witness the event, which was organised to publicise Armed Forces Day, the UK"s first, which is today (Friday) and sparks a week of thanksgiving.
