Culinary students' grand charity effort
CULINARY students from Kilmarnock College's Saltcoats campus raised almost £1000 for Yorkhill children's hospital recently by hosting a fundraising Burns Night.
The hospitality department students raised £970 for Yorkhill's Royal Hospital for Sick Children after hosting the Burns Night feast at its Moffat House building on Nineyards Street, Saltcoats. Following the conventional Burns Supper theme complete with toasts and addresses in traditional Scots, various guests attended the event including local Burns expert, Bobby McCallum, who recited an anthology of Burns' poems as well as performing the customary address to the haggis.
