VILLAGE PREPARE FOR FIRST APPLE FESTIVAL
Transition West Kilbride (TWK) are busy making the final preparations for their Apple Harvest Food Festival on Sunday, 23rd October between 11 and 3pm at the Community Centre.
In its first year, the food festival is shaping up to be a fantastic day out for all ages in the family.
Organisers say 'come along, there's lots to see, taste and do.'
Local food producers will be giving tasters, recipes and selling produce. People can have a go at traditional apple pressing or try making your own apple witch! Check out the apple printing stall and make your mark on the giant West Kilbride apple print image aided by the girls from The Printmakers' Boutique. There will be a prize raffle, face painting and lots more, say the Transition team.
TWK is part of the growing, global Transition Network which was set up by local residents to look at ways we can adapt to rising energy costs and climate change.
Funded by the Climate Challenge Fund, they work with the local community through various programmes including; growing your own groceries, composting and wormery workshops, home energy checks, community food gardens and unbiased renewables advice.
