WAR HERO TO GET OWN MEMORIAL IN FRANCE
A DALRY war hero is to be remembered with his own memorial in France.
The remarkable news comes a few months after we published a story detailing how French researcher Nicolas Bucourt was looking for information about an Ayrshire paratrooper named Hugh McIntyre, whose name had come up during his hunt for more information about a daring raid on a German radio installation in 1942.
The Herald story - headlined 'Hunt For A Paratrooper' - prompted the interest of very experienced Scottish genealogical researcher David Webster, whose findings have now turned up a number of fascinating facts about the serviceman.
