SPRIGHTLY centenarian Margaret McCurdy and her family were joined by depute Lord-Lieutenant Angela Dunbar and Provost Pat McPhee to celebrate the grand old lady's 100th birthday on Tuesday.

Now a resident in the Three Towns Nursing Home, Afton Road, Stevenston, Mrs McCurdy was born in Kilwinning in 1911.

From the age of 14 Mrs McCurdy cycled from Kilwinning to Dalry to work on a farm.
