HISTORY MADE IN ARDROSSAN
HISTORY was made in Ardrossan 90-years-ago this week when the first radio broadcast was received in the North Shore from America.
In 1921 radio was becoming established and the American Radio Relay League was keen to find out if transmissions from the states could be received across the Atlantic in Europe.
The ARRL's Paul Godley travelled to Scotland to create an experiment by setting up a receiver using a long wire suspended from several poles in a field in the North Shore in Ardrossan.
