NORTH Ayrshire was once again battered by sever to gale-force winds of almost 100mph this week - causing further disruption to commuters and damage to property.

Transport services were affected by the strong winds on two separate occasions on Wednesday, December 28 and again on Tuesday January 3.

First time round the much-photographed East Promenade between Saltcoats and Stevenston - normally the first place TV camera crews head when storms hit Scotland - was damaged and closed off to the public.
