A PETITION was handed in at the recent budget meeting of North Ayrshire Council in protest at the multi-million pound cuts implemented by the local authority.

Campbell Martin, SSP candidate for Ardrossan and Arran, presented the petition, containing about 1,140 signatures, to Elma Murray, Chief Executive, at the meeting last Wednesday.

Ms Murray read out the accompanying statement which criticised the SNP Scottish Government for accepting Westminster cuts and calls on councillors to protect jobs and services in the region.
