A BOGUS caller targeted an elderly resident in Kilwinning and tried to make them pay for work he claimed he had completed, say Strathclyde Police.

At 2pm on Monday, April 2 a man, described as between 5ft 6' and 6' with black hair, visited a home in Byres Loch under the guise of being an electrician who was there to carry out work on the property. The elderly resident permitted the man to enter and followed him around the house.

The bogus caller then asked for payment for work he said he had carried out on the property, however, the resident told him that they could not pay. The male then left but stated that he would return later.
