Lochshore site to become countryside instead of housing project

THE decision of a North Ayrshire Council committee to redesignate land allocated for a housing project at Kilbirnie's Lochshore has been condemned by a Labour councillor.

Kilbirnie and Beith Cllr John Bell asked for further details of the minutes from the Local Development Plan Committee on March 5 to be published after he was 'shocked' by the decision to redesignate the Lochshore site as countryside not available for housing. Cllr Bell said he was unable to attend the meeting due to an illness.

At the council meeting last Wednesday he said: "I think it's a particularly bad decision that I hope can be reversed."
